Underground storage tanks for gas and oil are in use all around us. Over time, leaks can develop and contaminate air, water, and soil. That’s what happened in this case. A leaking tank released gasoline into the creek and we were called in to clean it up.

Since fuel floats on water, cleanup is actually possible without extraordinary means. To clean the creek, we build dams with angled pipes so that the water flows from the bottom. This is referred to as an underflow dam. These allow us to remove the fuel collecting on the surface with booms and pads. The saturated pads/booms placed in drums are then disposed at a proper disposal facility. In some instances where a large amount of gas or oil has accumulated, a vacuum truck is used for its removal.

If you have an underground storage tank on your property, it should be regularly checked for leakage. We offer free inspections of your tank to determine if the tank is currently or has previously leaked. If a leak has occurred, we can take care of both removal and cleanup.
